Exhibition of paintings by Aneta Čotová

If you expect me to have had notebooks full of little pictures since I was a little girl, I will probably disappoint you.
This was also the case with my choice of high school, which was definitely not artistically
art-oriented. It was only later, after my two sons were born, that I longed for something
to create. But I had no idea about paints, brushes, let alone canvases. Art for
was always something distant, untouchable, something you can't just do
someone. The opposite is true. That's when I discovered the magic of the dotted mandala.
The beauty of the acrylic colors engulfed me. After the dotted mandalas
were followed by realistically painted flowers. About 5 years ago, I accidentally
discovered a folk art called Petrykivka and the perfection and grace of this technique
amazed me. And I began to learn. The technique of painting with cat hair brushes
was completely different from anything I'd ever known before. In the meantime, with the help of Mrs.
the librarian in Šatov, I held my first small exhibition, decorated the children's
corner in the library with a painting of the Little Prince, designed mugs for the village
Šatov and donated countless paintings to friends and family. It is said that for
it takes at least 10,000 hours to master the Petrykivka technique. But that's the way it is.
I think with painting in general, it's hard work and constant repetition, trying and learning.
But it's important to persevere and not be afraid to fail.
